Any thoughs / critiques on the attached? I can't decide the best way to present this. Black & White or colour? The original was cropped and I cloned out a small tree.

personally, i prefere the color version... gives more of a sense of the "brown-ness" of everything in the desert...

I personally like the black and white, my reasons for that is because it makes the picture feal older and when I see the picture I think it belongs in the olden days.

i like the black and white version as well. think a little sharpening and selective lightening to his face would help it out too.

the comosition is weak. My guess is that your original shot was better composed befored you cropped it 16:9. BW is better however lacks contrast. BW loves contrast.....

Thanks for your responses guys. Alex, this is in a little known part of Kent known as Tunisia, it's just off the A20 past Maidstone.
It looks like the general concensus is BW with more contrast, which is frustrating for me because I felt the original BW image was too dark in places to see properly, so I dodged and lightened it a bit! Hooligan, that's about all the camel I had in the original photo, as I took it in a hurry as we were driving past. I cropped off the top (which was messy). I personally like the composition, as it shows just howlong the camel's neck is. It's a personal opinion, though, so I appreciate your input. Frenchy |
