I just picked up this lens, and decided to play around with it. Took a few shots of a candle setup we have in our kitchen. I like the lens, and hope to really learn how to compose my shots better.

Good idea for a shot. The DOF is nice, but I would consider reshooting with less clutter in the background. Also, I would light those candles - set the camera on a tripod - and give it a go with only candle light, or candle light as the main sourse of light, and just a touch of glow for ambience.

Play a bit with Point of View. Try it from a number of angles (change right or left and up or down.) It's digital so shoot a lot.

Keep up the good work.
