Well, I finally figured it out. For whatever reason and without any assistance from Canon support other than trying to sell me a new printer, I have found out what works and the prints are excellent.

Unbelievably, the Epson paper does not exhibit the same "scratch" symptom.

Epson Premium Glossy paper in 4*6, 5*7 and Letter size all works fine.

I can still use Canon paper for the larger A3 and 11*17 sizes.

This is huge, because I was looking at dropping another $1,000 on a new printer.

Instead, I still have the i9100 and the Epson paper is cheaper too!!!
