i tried to shoot this chicken bbq in a way that would seem like you'd want to eat it just by looking at it.
what do you think? did i succeed?

close...I like the effort, I have tried this many times myself and always, always eaten my subject.:lol: For me, it would have worked a little better if you had gotten a little more depth to your focus. The first piece looks delicious, but leaves the rest looking sort of ?? lacking the look of a tasty morsel. I would have like to see the largest part all in focus. (just my preference) Sometims I throw a little fine spray of water to create a small wisp of steam over the food. Thanks berto, best regards,

Hi Berto;

Food presentation shots are definitely situations where you are simulating reality. I've heard that most magazine food shots are forthe most part undercooked or even uncooked. For the BBQ grill, you want the grill as clean as possible. Many food shots are prepared in advance and then placed on a pristine grill or pan or whatever, so that the actual cooking process doesn't spoil the appearance of the cooking tools.

That being said, I think you've got some appetizing-looking chicken there.
