The main problem I see in this photo is that it's way too busy. When I look at the photo, I have to wonder "what exactly is the focus of this picture?" You want to compose your photo so that the viewer knows precisely your point of focus. If it's the cruise ships, you'll want to get the entire ship in the shot. If it's a busy street, focusing more on the crowd or the cars would help, possibly using a slower shutter to get more of a blur effect.

I agree, no focal point, everything is in focus. i like some of the activity/colors on the right side of the shot, would have liked to see that capitalized upon

Yea, did the Carnival cruise thing (The ship on the left in your Photo actually, with the "T" shaped stack). We were there on June 24th.
Did the shopping thing downtown, and took the Whale watching excuersion. Of all the Alaskian stops we made, Juneau was my favorite from a city stand point. Of course being from Texas (now) I kind of liked the Alaskian attitude and such, a lot like Texas. A little laid back, yet proud of where they are, as little frontier (although Texas in the big cities is losing that). |
