Hi all,
I cropped this from a candid snapshot when we stayed over with some friends for the weekend. It seems quite a nice shot, and I converted it to a quadtone for printing on my Epson R800 (which otherwise does B&W poorly). This gives it a slight colour-cast on screen, but the print looks a lot better in quadtone than in simple B&W. There is enough detail to make a fairly nice A4 print at 240ppi. I was wondering whether anyone had any other suggestions before I send it to them in the mail. |

Unless it might offend them, I would take the time to clone out the small blemish on the edge of her left nostril and maybe even the dominate crease beneath her right eye. Just thowing in some ideas below. I removed the blemish, crease stray hair that ran right into her left eye and a 5x7 crop border. Your aspect ration probably works out better.
This is just my opinion and I'm not saying the image does not look good as it sits. ![]() |

i like the semi high key effect here peripatetic.. the dark contrasting eyes are what really makes this shot for me.. and a mono conversion was definately the way to go here.. this is another shot that shows that a good snapshot deserves the same treatment as a set up shot and can yield terrific results.. nice job and get that in the mail..

Good catch on the blemish on the nose - it's visible on the print, so I'll fix that. I thought I might leave the other fixes, but after playing around a bit I decided to touch up the crease and remove the errant hair. Thanks for the input. I quite like the slightly longer format crop so I think I'll leave it that way. Thanks everyone for looking. |
