i would like to see fewer elements in this picture... maybe single out one of these oil rigs (??) and use it as your foreground interest.. i would also want a little bit more interesting light.. the clouds are nice, but some warmth from an earlierdawn light would have been nice.. also, a split neutral density would allow you some needed detail in the foreground.. or expose for the sky as you have and then give it a graduated mask to the sky and lighten the foreground..
this is one of those "almost shots".. if you'd a been there a little bit earlier and been a little closer.. so i would definately get back there and take some more! ![]() best regards, dustin |

I would suggest something slightly different to Hards80...
I think the composition is fine as it is but the scene could do with more details being visible in the foreground. The silouhettes of the cranes don't particularly work for me. If you could shoot this scene again I would suggest experimenting with longer shutter speeds to see what can give you the best exposure to balance the wonderfully moody sky with detail in the dockyards(?) below. |
