The light was harsh mid-afternoon and some of the highlights are blown. Composition completely ignores the rules, and there are too many flowers.
So, what do you think? brian |

it's not bad
![]() i'm not a fan of groups of flowers, lol, i haven't had much success taking photos of them...but anyway don't worry about any "rules" if it looks good to you, and it works, it's fine... a quote of ansel adams... "There are no rules for good photographs, just good photographs" he was a brilliant dude ![]() Vito |

I like it. The colors are nice and the arrangement is pleasing. The DOF is a little small in my opinion.
The rules lead to just as many bad photos as not using the rules do. If people only stuck to the rules, no new methods or ideas would ever come about. Breaking the mold (even if it doesn't work out)is one of hte most important things any artist can ever do. |

You could try different framing so the branch runs diagonally from bottom corner to top left so the eye is lead into the centre of the frame. Also a higher f-number will keep the entire branch in focus next time.

I think it's nice! You picked a nice flower, and the lighting is not near as bad as you seem to think it is. In fact if the weather is a bit cloudy and muggy, I find that the diffusion of the light makes for a calmer illumination than harsh sunlight.
The only things that could be improved are the angle from which you captured (I usually prefer to take flowers in a more upright position, but I suppose you could just rotate the image!) and you have a narrow focus. I'd make the depth of field wider(?) I don't know the exact terminology but this kind of thing should be all in sharp focus. It is really nice. |

I like the composition of this too. Anything this white is hard to expose correctly to get the detail, and you managed to get it right. Only thing I found was it could use a little USM maybe, but that would be more of an individuals choice. With it or without, it still works. Cheers.....thekman.
