I like this shot and I think the sepia works but the picture is too clean to me. Maybe you could add some noise to give it more of an old world feel. I think shooting this with the dog at the owners feet or in his/her lap would have been more effective at conveying a sense of loyalty as well.

A very patient and understanding looking buddy! If (your?) arm had turned around the subject copletely so as to bring the bottle to the front plan as with the subject, it would be much better I think. And yes, sephia surely works well, contributing to the warm, friendly athmosphere with a bit of longing, nostalgia perhaps.

i think you have lost some of the contrast in going with a sepia toned.. i think going normal black and white and boosting contrast a bit would look better.. if you wanted you could go with a warm black and white if you wanted to keep a hint of the sepia look.. its a cute shot and you got a nice attentive subject there..

i prefer it in black and white, but you left your whites on the front blown a little bit, should be easily correctable.

Thanks Dustin - agree the B&W is better and that the white is a bit over-powering. Interesting avatar btw :G

B&W is good but I think I prefer the sepia, as it looks older. I think it would look good with a 'page curling' effect, or maybe burnt edges or some such, to accentuate the appearance of age.

I love this picture. I think it is one of those that can be timeless. I would hang it on ma wall. The B&W is definitely a winner.
