I took out my very first digicam (Panasonic LC40s) today since the weather outside is just terrible.
Did a 45 degree rotation of the shot and cropped with some levels, contrast and saturation. |

I'm not sure what it is about this shot I don't like. Something... but I can't quite put my finger on it. I do like the detail. Maybe it's my monitor but it seemed a little too bright for my taste, and it left me wanting to see more of the edges of the leaf (since I think the shape of the leaf is the most interesting part). It's not bad by any means, but it's not giving me that 'wow' factor either... hard to describe I guess.
I like the rotation though, it looks more natural to me. |

what is this sitting on? some sort of blacktop?
anyways, i love the textures in this shot.. but i think it can be improved.. try a selective darkening of the background, i think a darker background will make the leaf stand out more.. the bits of hot greyish color in the background distract for me just a bit.. also, do you have a wider crop? i would like to see the whole form of the leaf i think.. not that its bad as is, as cropping it puts the attention on the patterns within the leaf, i would just like a whole shot as a comparison.. ---------- dustin www.hardwickphotos.com |

Ok,
Took another try at this. A bit more saturation this time. |

Yep. Color is better on the edit. But the crop may go down as taste but the edit is very nice.

That looks a lot better to me I think the little darker leaf brought out more of the snow detail as well, which is the part that I think makes the shot really interesting. Nice work.
