Neat Idea, and I've always wanted to learn how to do it, but haven't yet. Would pack a lot more punch if it was a little sharper. Nice Composition.

if you are interested in doing this type of shot and save some serious time and
frustration, check out my posts "raise your face to the sun" and "b&w kitty with a little color". if you like the effects, go to http://recolored.com/ and try a free demo. it's pretty cool. scot |

Actually the front flower is in it's sharpest possible, but due to the small distance from the lense (macro) the DOF is very shallow, so the second flower is not . I 've also have this shoot with compact camere with deeper DOF and although the second flower is abit more sharper there is not such nice backgrownd blur... so I've chosen this one.

As you see when the second flower is in focus too, the picture lose all its romantic look! Agreed?

Just use the blur tool in PS. Great shot and the selective colouring works well.

I agree that it is nice to have the leaves out of focus but having the second blossom in focus is nice to my eyes. Perhaps just blurr out the black and white bits a little but leave the colored portion intact.
