This is my very first attempt at flowers (with the 20D at least). Not too many flowers around here so I had to go to the Milwaukee Domes (Mitchell Park Horticultural Conservatory). It's basically three large domes that each have a different environment (rainforest, desert, and one that's set up for Christmas). Please be gentle... but not too gentle!

the first one just isn't an apealing flower.. and the crop where it is is a bit awkward.. maybe include a little more stem and find a prettier flower??
the second one has potential.. but this one is underexposed a bit and you have too much depth of field.. shoot this one again at f2.8 or 4 or something so your background blurs a bit and bracket an exposure.. the last one i like alot.. the intricate supports of the dome give it a very nice pattern.. nice work on this one! -dustin |

Thanks Dustin, I thought the second one was pretty dark. I shoot RAW so I could up it quite a bit. It was at f/5.6 (the best my 18-55 lens can do at 49mm... I'm getting my Tamron 28-75 f/2.8 XR Di tomorrow). I'll try to get back there after Christmas (just too much to do before that!).
As for the Flowers.... I'm well aware I'm not Jules! Here's a version a little brighter.... |
