Like the diagonal line shot here and the focus in the center is sharp and the color quite good. The foreground blur and DOF is nice as well.

My first impression is that the colours are a bit oversaturated. Was there alot of PS used? There seems to be some increased colour noise/artifact in the background, although this may be due to compression.

It is waaaaaaaay toooooooo contrasty. That is what blows out the highlights, loses definition in dark areas and over saturates the colors. All of this could be due to the scan.
It needs a lot more depth of field. It appears "blue" from shooting in the shade. The good news is that it shows someone with a good eye, they just need the technical expertise to execute - kind of like my criticism.:-) Nice content so go back, take a tripod and a warming filter - I'll bet the subject hasn't moved, unless it became firewood. I agree it need more DOF... Too much time spent searching for where focus hits, and sore eyes from rubbing..:blah: It means too much of the photograph is wasted as peripheral view.
Nice colours textures. |

hey mike
as you no im a fan of your work. i do like this shot. strong colours which i think add to the moody feel of this image and i am a fan of the diagonal composition. only thing i can think of is maybe increasing the dof a little maybe to the bend in the branch to sorta add more character tot the image. all in all still a fantastic image and look fwd to more of your work. ken |
