Any comments about this shot.Bothformer combatants have beendisabled - each by the other. Also felt the benchadded a touch of pathos as this is a facility for the able-bodied.

Steve, this photograph has had me come to look at it a few times. A very poignant image that speaks a thousand words.
I can't give you any technical critique or draw your attention to any (if any) technical errors, nor show any examples of my own technical abilities and expertise. I do however, think it a powerful image that I would consider true photo~journalism. Regards ISoS |

Good grief, so I did - do you want to know what the winning Lotto numbers are before I set the clock back? :?
Thanks Syd for the comments -and for pointing out the date problem; Strange as itwas correctly setpreviously - oh well, better than the command dial falling off I suppose. |

you have conveyed your story well in this shot.. it does evoke some thought and emotion in the viewer.. and i think the mono presentation and composition work well for you here.. nice job with this one..
the quibbles i have are.. i wish that foreground bench were not there.. and if you had been standing a bit to the left, you may have been able to get a hint of a profile, which could have been nice.. but you make the most of your opportunities, and i really like this one. -dustin |

This is quite a photo, but I think it would have been much more evocative had the artillery piecein the background been a more modern one - that one looks like a WW1 model - and I agree the bench is distracting. Still, it makes you think, and I guess that's the point. Nice work.

The composition, the B&W colour tells a story. Good capture Steve. Regards. Jaki

Thanks everybody for the very positive comment - great feedback. Unfortunately I had to be a little sensitive on this one as I didn't want to make a big issue of taking the shot. Ideally I would have preferred to have got the shot against a 'spiked' artillery piece (barrel blown apart) which was just off to the left and which would really have made a great composition, as both subjects are clearly disabled to the eye. But as Dustin said, I guess you've just got to make the most of what you've got.
