Wow! Downright amazing what you guys can do in PhotoShop. I'm still trying to figure out what a level is!
These are some excellent suggestions and examples. They will give me some targets to try to match on my own. On the left ear crop: I'm afraid that is due to my inept technique. The original shot clipped off the tip of the ear, so Photoshop is the only way to fully restore it. My first digicam was a Kodak 2120 1-MP, and I've been moving up slowly in the resolution chain. As a consequence,it is my habit totry to make full use of every pixel when I frame the shot, sometimes going a bit too far, like in this case. With 8-MP, I should probably back off and leave myself a little room around the edges. The collective wisdom in your comments has been very useful, andwill help me to improve future efforts.
