A swan that is in my local lake here. It was originally on the other side of the lake, and I only had my 70-210, so I sat there trying to decide if I walk around to it, will it swim away, and as I was pondering, it started swimming towards me. So here's one of my favorite ones from the session. C & C welcome

Nice capture LT. Nicely cropped and framed, which more than makes up for the missing tail etc.
I took a load of swanshots the other day and was quite pleased with the results. Thing is they can be real tricky sometimes as they invetably tend to have a blown out spot or two somewhere on their plumage, which can make post processing a little limited. Would be better in my opinion if they were a deep blue or purple colour. :? |

Thanks Syd, you are right about them highlights and stuff. This Swan was funny though, it was just performing for me. If I show you the series of pictures, you will laugh. It came swimming towards me, ducked behind the wall of the pond, stuck enough of it's head up to look at me, then ducked back down, then stuck it's whole head up, then cocked it to the side as if to say, come here, here I am...then it just swam around in circles, zig-zag, etc, etc. It was an interesting experience.
Thanks Longside1, Ken, and Rubadubdub. This was my favorite of the bunch I took (have about 10-15). First time taking Swans, so was very happy at the results. Thanks all for your kind words. Regards, LT |

Just came across this. I agree it's a very nice shot...gorgeous effect, contrast with the water really adds as well.
