First posting. My camera is a Panasonic Fz5.

After reading lots of the forums about composition, I went out and had a go.

I planned these two pictures. Went out at sunset, thought about where the light was coming from and tried to frame the shots using the rule of thrids.

I know that there are no real rules of composition and it is the end result that counts, but I have to start somewhere.

First picture I cropped so the path would start in the corner.
Second picture just added a border.

I think they are ok, but they lack focus. They don't grab the viewer and I don't know why.

All comments really appreciated.

Thanks for your time.

I prefer the second picture, of the two. SOmething about the first one just is not as interesting. I think its the mound in the middle, it takes most of my attention away from the rest of the picture. I just want to know what that mound is. If that was the intention, then I'd say it worked.

I think the second is more intersting though.

Regards,

LT
