This guy ws sitting on the deck rail - I thought he was dead, but he moved a little when I nudged him. I ran upstairs and got my camera and tripod and took several photos increasing the dof as I shot. This is the last one before he flew away.

Nice shot. Contrast a little low - could be improved with flash, but I liked the depth of field with the focus on the head. Try bumbing contrast up in photoshop. You can also boost colours using saturation controls.

so did you shoot him with a 14mm lens or with a 600mm lens?

Eric,
Thanx for the comments. Do you think the area under the wing should be darker? On my monitor, it's already lost almost all detail. Saturation is a matter of taste - this is as close to the subject as I could get. I actually backed off on the saturation a bit. I guess I'll go back and try again ~ Thanx for the comments.
