The second and third are pretty good. I don't see any real focus on the first one at all. Other than not having to edit the picture in PS, which I do most of my pictures in some form or another, what is the advantage of this lensbaby over that?

the second and third are really cool. the purpose of a lensbaby is to achieve effects with selective focus that are holga-esque...using your 35mm slr or dslr. looks like a fun toy- i may have to add this to my holiday list!

i actually do edit these pictures in PS, sometimes extensively. but it just involves curves, saturation, sharpness, and things like that. the first one i like because it looks to me like it's underwater or something. it's just an awesome lens to use because it's so different than the usual lens. being able to move it around and pic your point of focus and which way the blur is angled is very cool. this is only my second day with this lens so i'll have more after a while.

julies - i would recommend putting this on your holiday list! fairly cheap price and it will renew your excitement for photography, if you ever lose some of it :-). you can create some really dreamy photos with it! you mentioned you're a flower buff, i'd love to see what you could capture, floral wise, with a lensbaby.

I know what it is and the purpose. I mean what is the advantage of using it over editing, other than not having to do the edit? I don't see anything in these images that could not be acheived in PS, unless the lens is capable of more.

ok i see what you're saying. i suppose there is none if you want to put it that way. i just like having control over it while i'm using the camera, it's something new and is fun to use. if you can't appreciate it for those reasons i'd suggest not getting one.

Too bad someone doesn't just create a "lens baby plugin" in photoshop, so we can apply the effect post processing.
lol. |

Or at least autocritique our photos.
Could you imagine software that has a voice say: "hey man, you're ruining the photo with that crop!". or "too much processing, you're overdoing it". or "you don't have much to work with here, and all this processing isn't going to help". or "that subject is really boring, why don't go out and take some real photos?" --- Terry |
