aumma, i used a lensbaby lens, i got the inspiration from mike's lensbaby pictures in an earlier thread. it focuses on a small area called the "sweet spot" and then blurs the rest. you are in control of this "sweet spot". matthew, i shoot with a nikon D70. i can't say about dust as i just got the lensbaby today but thanks for the warning. thanks for the clarification dustin

I think Dustin has a right to his opnion, even if its not what a photog wants to hear.
If all we say is nice things about photos, this forum will turn into a love fest and nobody will learn anything. My impression of this photo (and people love my impressions) is that it's a nice picture, but something tells me if you play around more with your lens baby you are going to wring out some even better images than this one. Not that every shot you post has to be the best your capable of, cause I've put some pretty trashy stuff out here myself and either got no response or took the consequences. I'd say you hit agood level with this photo to build from, but I sense you've got better than this in you. -- Terry PS: Now I must return to my yoga. |

i'm not sure the white areas add to the photo and i wish you'd taken a flower photo that explored the abilities of the lensbaby rather than photoshop.

i added a bit of diffuse glow to pop the whites....really it is all lensbaby, this is the original, i suppose it's a matter of personal choice....

don't get me wrong i like the photo i just meant that i can't tell it was taken with a lensbaby. the blur isn't really present, that's all i was saying.
the flower looks great. -mike- |

i guess because there isn't a detailed background it's hard to tell...i swear the white is blurred! this is definitely a different effect than if i'd shot a "normal" macro of this same set up.
