Interested in your comments here.
Did a bit of photoshop work in cloning and darkening the top of the frame. Focus on Lauren's face, not the dog. (I have one the other way around which isn't nearly as good.) Cropped to 8x10 ratio - gotta love those budget frames. Is it any good? Suggestions? |

and had the dog turned towards the kid, u would got the perfect shot. In a way thedog is getting some attention. But the kids expression is spotless...wish the dog had turned towards the kid
![]() its a good shot, but as i said i just feel its a bit too bright....do u have the color version of the same??? svb |

Yes, I thought it is quite bright. Also it seems a bit soft especially the nose of the dog. As for the emotionthe picture evokes, perfect. Thanks for such a wonderful shot.

it is kind of bright, but that was the look you were going for correct? if so, i still think you need a bit more contrast.. keeping it bright is fine if that is what you want, but you need a little more blacks in there i think..
its a great moment that you have caught here though.. ----------- dustin www.hardwickphotos.com |

The dynamic range in the shot is only about 3.5 stops so there's not too much to work with.
I exposed for the skin and let the bits fall where they may :-) It was bright midday African sun and the subjects were in the shade - there just wasn't any colour there to work with. I have pushed the contrast as far as I can really, the blacks are already losing detail and any more starts to mess up the skin tones. Someone who knows how to do a good curves adjustment is welcome to have a go. :-) It's going to go in a dark frame, which helps with the contrast I think. |

Here's the original - just a straight RAW conversion - no processing.

The dark frame adds a lot to an already nice photo. Great capture of a great subject.
