Default Mellor Cross Silhouette

A silhouette image with from a walk a couple of weekends ago at Mellor Cross with the lights of Manchester in the background. I apologise for the quality of the picture, only had my phone on me!

Any comments welcome.

Wow! That is not very good at all. Too much graininess. no zing, and no story to be told. Technically the shutter speed was to slow and the ISO seems too high. To sum up, it appears that your camera was ill suited to it's task.

I like the subject matter of the picture. It would be better with less noise, a little better lighting and clone out the support cables. The one cable looks likes it is going all the way from the top of the mountain to the far side of town.
Comments always welcome.

Thanks Calicajun, the noise is due to the fact it was taken on my phone and has had a bit of editing to it. I did have a camera in the bag but it was in the below 0c so the kids didn't want to hang around for long.

I might try to do it again in better weather!

I quite like it. The grain provides a gritty feel to the subject matter, and the silhouettes remind me a little bit of the final scene from "The Seventh Seal". Even the yellow-green wash on the clouds/mist provide an interesting colour cast.

Interestingly, the image shows us that there is a good shot there to be had- with the right camera...

An interesting PIX that you can have lots of fun with.

I removed some of the noise with my trial version of "Neat Image". (Making the PIX smaller also helps keeps the eye off sensor noise.)

Included are a few versions featuring different sky color flavors. (Done simply by changing "hue" in PE.)
