It is obvious that you've planned this shot and put some thought into the lighting. It will be helpful for others if you share your technique.

It is nice to see someone learning to use light. Eliminating the catchlight from your on camera flash will be more pleasing. You can edit it out in your photo editing software.

I like to use natural light, maybe because I don`t know to much about flash light. I did did photo putting both subjest close to a large window.The cat was distracting by the trafic and my daughter watching cartoon on tv.

Very nice! Lighting the cats eyes so well is a very important issue. Nice balance between subject and cat. Not a big deal, but I would have something more 'neutral' in color over subject's shoulder. The white is a bit distracting from your points of interest.
