Still new to digital, trying to learn my S5100. Here is one I liked, and is my first pic to post here, if it comes thru. What do you all think? Thanks in advancefor any help critiques.

Lighting is the missing ingredient here. You probably weren't close enough to use your camera's pop-up flash. Considering the equipment you have, the pop-up would have been your best option here. Unless a silhouette, you need light on the side facing the lens. Our eyes have greater dynamic range than our cameras so you saw detail that the camera doesn't capture.
The light the sun provides will be more diffused just before sunrise or sunset so a different time of day will be helpful. Rodney |
