Hey guys- I guess this is turning out to be my first real post. Sorry about all the confusion before, I was having trouble finding a site that would work to host pictures. I took this on the Nile with a Fuji E550, no manipulation. Let me know what you think. Thanks

I don't actually have Photoshop, nor have I used it in the past. Can you let me know what you mean by shadows and highlights? As in where in a photo like this would they be used? Would a program like Picasa be able to accomplish this?

you might be able to hit the "Im feeling lucky" button and get a bit of a boost.
The image looks a little dull, needs a little punch as in the darks should be darker/blacker and the sunset should have a bit more oomph. The thing in the bottom right is a bit distracting from the scene. http://www.adobe.com/products/tryado...jsp#product=40 that is a link to the downloads page at Adobe. Try Adobe photoshop Elements. Its a free 30 day Demo. It will give you an idea of what is available in the photoediting world. Its an easier/less advanced version of Photoshop, but is more than enough for the majority of weekend warriors. |

besides aforementioned ideas on processing...
-wait 5 minutes and shoot just as the sun dips below the horizon, i find this leads to better colors and stops the sun from burning out or ruining the rest of the exposure.. ------------ dustin www.hardwickphotos.com |
