It's nothing special, but I thought it made a quaint old photo. I liked the composition much more than the subject, the lines seem to flow nicely and the rule of thirds applies doubly here. Looking at it now I wish I had just a bit more in the frame on the right so the tree didn't get cut off at the limb tips, and maybe framed the horizon a little higher. Any other comments are appreciated.

i agree. the road makes a nice counterbalance to the barn, and the vertical spacing works. not sure i care for the sepia tone, though... perhaps plain B&W?

B&W version

squirl033 Jan 4, 2006 11:03 PM

definitely better, at least for me... but then, i tend to prefer B&W over sepia, except in certain, relatively rare cases.

i really like the plain black and white version.. the composition is great with the diagnal line of the fence androad.. and interplay of the textures of the barn and the scene around it.. nice job..

Aside from the technical aspects, I like the sepia. This part of Africa can get really dry and dusty. The sepia reflects this feeling better.

They are both Keepers. I myself prefer the plain B&W, but I could see some that prefer the sepia. Nice Job.

The composition works very nicely. I prefer the b&w, but the sepia is nice too.

Great composition.

Thanks for the comments everyone. After seeing them both, I think I prefer the sepia still, but I know that's a personal preference. Appreciate all the feedback.
