Hi all, I took this picture a few months ago. However, I re-cropped it to get rid of the unnecessary indoor scenes. These old men in the picture are smoking and drinking tea in the Big House complex (Nha Lon) on the island. That was on theAnniversary of a the island founder's death, Mr.Le Van Muu. Heand his familymigrated northward from Angiang province (southwest ofVietnam) to findthe promised land in the early of 20th century. He found this island which is about 40km away from Vungtau and settled here. Themen on the island are still keeping the traditional chignons of the old Vietnamese and wearing South Vietnameseblack pyjamas. Maybe, this only existson Longson Island but nowhere else in Vietnam today.
Critiques and comments always welcome! Regards, Quan :-) |

I really like the colours.
I'm no good at the technical side of things but the flash on the tea-cups? bothers me. Overall, what an excellent shot. |

i would not have cropped off the guy on the left hand side of the frame.. and i would have bounced the flash if possible to keep the reflections to a minimum..
that said, you have done a great job in capturing a culture that many of us would otherwise be aware of.. and you have done a good job in capturing them in their daily lives, rather than a posed shot.. thanks for sharing this and for the introduction that served to teach me a little about the ppl in it.. best regards, dustin |
