michael.
there is just not enough color on this path to warrant a selective coloring effect.. i would have just left it in black and white.. try playing with the levels and/or the shadow/highlights and see if you can tame down the highlights a little bit and open up the shadows a bit as well.. clone out the two signs on the trees while you are at it.. also when you are in levels see if you can get a more true black... that said, i like this composition and with a little work i think you have a good shot here.. i can definately see the improvement in your work with every pic. nice job. ok, bear with me, i have another idea.. you may retake this sometime and stand between the two trees with the signs, the path seems to be a little more defined from that point on and you may get a better vanishing point effect shooting from there.. best regards, dustin |

i like your idea of selective coloring, but i think this would be great as a mono. i like the inclusion of that wonderful, first tree on the left....but if you can edit out the signs it would work better. i think it's a beautiful shot.

Hehe, on my laptop I can barely see any color at all it looks like a B&W and it looks good as a B&W.
I agree with the other posters, in this case plain B&W works out better. If you wanted to alter the color maybe apply a sepia toning to it. The composition itself works out well for me, only objection I have and it is slight is the signs nailed to the two front trees detracts a bit as the eyes are attracted straight to them. A bit of cloning and they would be gone. :-). Peter. |

A more interesting effect would have been blue sky with all the rest in B&W.
Any body know how to do that??? -- Terry |

I like the full mono. It gives that feeling of solitude, and peace. I can just imagine escaping the world while taking a stroll down the path.

i too prefer this version.. nice job michael..
[email protected]- can simply use a desaturation layer and then unmask the sky with the paintbrush... it would be quite a pain though with this shot to get in between all the leaves.. best regards, dustin |
