My friend had those beautiful tulips in her garden when I was playing around with my first digital camera, a Kodak DX3790,back in 2002. To this day it's one of my favorite shots. Only effect applied is "Accented Edges" in PS, but otherwise no editing.

the sky or window or whatever is seriously overexposed.. which really distracts me from this pretty tulip...

what pretty tulip? maybe it was beautiful but you didn't manage to catch it's strong points in this shoot. Try manny angles for a shoot... And the background it's really blownup...Remember that what you see doesn't apears samely in a photo.
