Another angle of the morning rose - any comments appreciated

The color of this rose is lovely. The DOF looks good and it stands out nicely against the background. However, the light is rather harsh for such a delicate subject. Also, the edges show some serious artifacts. One section on the bottom right looks like it's been overprocessed, or is just an unappealing damaged section of the flower. I would try this again. Also, perhaps a more interesting angle than the head-on look here.

Thanks Lady for the comment, I thought it was a bit bland. Ran it through neat image below - seems better?

That's certainly better, but the light is still too strong. Also, the bottom of the rose looks damaged. One thing about flower shots is that the flowers need to be perfect. Flaws that are not noticed in real life really jump out when the flower is reduced to a two-dimensional image.

Thanks Lady - will keep an eye out for damage in future : you are right, they do tend to leap out and hijack the shot now I look at it.

Lady said all of it. Now you got to control that light and boy this will be a perfect one. Also try shooting from difference angles. Regards. Jaki.

Thanks Jaki - incidentally, have you done the Botanical Gardens?
