Well, this is my first thread and post here, so I figured I'd dive right in. Let me know what you think.

Welcome I trust you would like us to compare the shots! I find alot more appeal with the B&W version. It has a strange and erie feel to it.The colour version disappoints for a couple of reasons. It has a shadow in the bottom left that is very noticeable but more importantly and overall, I am left looking for a point of interest. I think part of that occurs because you need more depth of field to showcase the bunch of flowers rather than a single row. Unfortunately, I think the crop is inappropriate for the bringing interest to the collective bunch. To leave on a positive note... I did enjoy the B&W presentation. Thanks for sharing. There are some very talented people that visit this forum that share your interest in flowers and can help you deliver some truly powerful images. I look forward to your next post!

the crop/comp is ruining it for you.. it neither singles out anything to make it a focus, nor does it show the complete scene.. not sure how you could make this work, i am thinking no matter what you did here it would be a bit busy.. probably would need to take one of the flowers away from the others and work on a study of it..

the black and white presentation is ok, but you have some blown highlights that just make it too contrasty and harsh..

i look forward to seeing more of your shots and best of luck.. hope you enjoy your time here!!

with flowers, i really like a tighter view. the color seems almost dry to me.

the b&w has some really cool qualities, but i think it would be better if the shot was a

little tighter.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. This shot was kind of a spur of the moment kind of thing. I originally wanted to shoot the flowers as a whole bouqet(sp) but didn't have a good background to use that would have complimented them.

The shadow you see in the lower left corner is me, I actually cropped a bit of it out. I was shooting at a rather strange angle.

Flowers are not my usual subjects, so this was new to me. I never realized how hard it is to get good colors from colorful flowers.
