I am experimenting with lights. This one was taken inside my garage with the roller door fully open.

This one was taken using the technique introduced by Rodney previously. The subject was in the shade of the building but there wereplants (with red/yellowish leaves) in front of her reflecting some sunshine, which I think is responsiblefor the high lights on her nose and lips.

As cute as can be but for the type of questions
you are asking wouldn't it be better if you sent a much larger file. Lonnie |

These are very good second attempts. You have nice subtle highlights on the face of your subject in each image. The transition from highlights to shadows is very pleasing as well.
You don't need me to point out that you've captured this girl's personality without the ugly lighting paterns that were visible on your previous attempt. Do you? :-) The only thing lacking with these images is a little post work that is often needed with our images. All could use a little contrast boost and a little sharpening. Attached is an edit for demonstration. You've done a great job here...You should be pleased. Rodney |

Thanks very much Rodney. How did you transform the photo?
I was trying to sharp the image in Paint Shop Pro, but that made the skin look less smooth, nothing like what you did. The result of your edit is a shaper image with smoother skin and brighter eyes.Like a magic! Couldyou please kindly tell me your procedure of achieving that? |

Thanks Rodney! Much appreciated.
Lonnie, I missed your point. Why do we need larger files? I thought they were big enough to see the effects whilesavingsome bandwidth. |

You are very welcome! You now have a good understanding of one technique and demonstrated 2 variations of executing it. Don't hesitate to experiment, but when in doubt you always have this technique to pull you through.
