Have been trying out a bit of lighting in this self portrait. Would welcome your comments on this and the black and white conversion.

Syd as I've said before I'm really not qualified to comment on portraits - I definitely prefer the B&Wversion but to my untrained eye these are not as good as your first effort. Quite like the lighting though. Are thesemaybenot too 'close-up'? Very uneducated comment, but for what it's worth anyway. |

This portrait has quite an expressive quality, IMO.
It suggests a fateful moment of the subject. The warm light dyes the features giving a monotone feel. Coul it be less bright around the nose...Anyway, I'd favour the first one. Very well, I think ![]() |
