I like the conversion. The eye needs some type of highlight and the crop does not work for me. With the crop you cannot really identify the subject. The large white area at the bottom lacks any detail and you cannot tell where the snout is so it almost starts to look like a horse or burrow. Work on the crop and I think it will be much improved.

yea.. i think you need to work on the angle of the shot as well.. from here, the eye is not prominent enough, its too flat and gets lost in the fur.. and yes, watch your highlights, good exposures are tough with black on white subjects so i think you will need to bracket an exposure... good start, just need to work the angles and compositions a little more..

Nice hair texture but would like to see a little detail and sparkle in the eye.
