Picture #49 out of the XT
A "Silver Dollar" blossom. Real name: I have no idea… I really can't imagine me doing a lot of flowers especially with my daughter's summer league baseball season starting in a couple of weeks. I thought I'd give it a shot though and I hope I don't disappoint anyone. Comments and help welcomed. The picture is "Out-of-the-camera" except for a clone on the pedal at about 7 o'clock. It had a tiny white edge but it was distracting. (And sized for here) Sigma AF 70-300 APO Macro Super. dale |

Hi Dale,
About a month ago I shared images of this same flower, but I never could get a nice capture of a single blossom so I did the entire plant. :-) We rarely see images with the blossoms of the Money Plant. We more often see images of the coin shaped seeds. Keep shooting flowers! I was surprised at how much shooting flora has helped my compositional skills. A tripod will be helpful to keep the subject in focus. After you have the blossom framed you can remove blossoms that are close and focused enough to be a distraction. You'll probably need to use about f/13 to shoot anything macro at an angle with the lens you are using. Thanks for sharing. Rodney |

Did i ever mention that purple and green go well together. I like the shot and composition although i would have liked it more if the "middle bit" spores? of the flower were in focus.

really nice shot, I like the warm color, if you could get the top flower to have a clear focus in the very centre of the shot it would be great. I find flowers really hard, I don't often get a really good shot of one myself. I actually found my little prosumer digital camera took much better macro shots of flowers than my Dslr.:-)Keep shooting

Well thank you very much. I admit i was afraid too post this so i appreciate the kind
help. Rodney: Ok. I'll try something else... The Rhododendrons are coming out. Thank you for your advice and i will follow it. Thanks for the encouragement. Some people have knowledge but don't share. I'm glad you're not one of them. Clem: Thanks for dropping in on this. You're right the colors do go nice and really help this picture. I'll be more attentive to my settings. Alady: No excuses.... Well maybe. I am still getting use to my new camera. It's been three hole days now. When i looked back at the picture info< I saw i had several mistakes in the setting. Like continuous shooting! Yeah, ya never know when a flower is going to do something and wish you you had ten frames of it. LOL. Thanks again everyone dale |
