i really like this shot.. i can tell you spent alot of time contemplating the composition and exposure, and it paid off.. as you have an interesting composition that is made better by a good mono presentation..
i actually think both the soft and the sharp have their own merits.. but i think the mood is set better with the softfocus shot.. nice job ESC -dustin |

thanks, dustin.
i needed that. i'm pulling my hair out with the dismal weather we've had lately, but it seems that there has at least been some redeeming qualities to it. thanks again scot |

i definitely prefer the soft version... imparts a sort of misty, surreal feeling to it. this might not have been my choice of subject matter, but it does capture a sense of gloom and dreariness which the soft focus seems to enhance...

i like both of these, i think i prefer the in focus one slightly more though. your sunsets have been lovely, nice to see some expansion though (maybe someday i'll post something other than a flower photo...nah.) the real questions to be asked here are- "did you have to get in the water to get this shot?" and "was there a pub near by?"

I like the soft focus much better, the strength of the image is in the composition, shape, contrast.
That means it's kinda fun to play with the photoshop filters. I don't think this is any better than the original, but I liked it. |
