Default Surfers at sunset

Just picked up a 10-18mm lens for my Sony NEX 6 and took it to the beach this evening. Caught these two surfers beside the Huntington Beach pier. C&C welcome.

Great looking picture, I like the first one best of the two crops.

I am a little bothered by the cyan flare on the right side of the piling, which makes the cropped version a little better in that respect. Perhaps, cropping to the piling, which would also create a framing?

Yes, it bothers me, too, but I didn't want to crop out that right piling...and croping part of it left something to be desired. I tried toning down the whiteout from the sun, but was unsuccessful.

I need a better eye, didn't notice the cyan flare until it was pointed out.
