This is not the type of taxi the rest of the world knows.

This is the notorious "minibus-taxi" . The bane of South African motorists everywhere.

These taxis are like privately owned public transport. Usually heavily overloaded.

Their philosophy is "will he be able to stop in time if I swerve in front of him".

It has happened to me that (on a daul way, single lane road) a taxi "overtakes" a car that has stopped because of a red traffic light. I was busy turning into the lane he was using to "overtake" the other car. Luckily I was going slow.

Very few of them go this far though.

I have yet to see one without any dents.

In the area where I live, roughly 1 out of 100- 200veichles are of these taxi's.

In the cbd of Johannesburg, 2 out of 3 are.

Carrots... good story!!

Pity you have a sign in the way of the taxi, not that it will matter to him ... but it breaks the rythm for me!

good panning technique.. maybe even a bit slower shutter speed would have added to the sense of movement.. and i dont think you really need the end of the white van on the right side of the frame, i'd clone that out..
