I think this is a very good baby portrait that is well executed. The colors are not colors that I favor, but you nailed the tones. Before anyone get upset let me say that the colors are just fine...just not colors I like. Anyway there really isn't anything it needs, but if you want to experiement, you can try slightly different crops and a b&w conversion. Below is a quick crude attempt.

Great shot!

My only nit is the eyes are at the center of the frame so my attention keeps getting drawn to the forehead. Perhaps a crop with more of the arms moving the eyes higher up in the frame?

Thanks for the input, the colors are not my choice, the baby was sitting on a couch with the purple sheet behind her (not my house) , I just smoothed the wrinkles out of the sheet.

I think the parents will be quite pleased with this shot. Offer them color and b&w proofs. The colors are fine, but if you can alter the background color without detection then I'd try a pale blue. You work very well with children...U have a market!

How about this

Hey Julie,

I love the edit. I suggested a change in the background color because I remember you experimenting with that about 3 years ago. Some people may prefer the original, but my favorite is this last edit.

Now, go sell those prints! ;)

I was really going to go full out on this but I held back. Whats your opinion of this version. I wish there were more variety in colors than the pink purple look.

Hello Bynx,

I'm curious. Have you calibrated your monitor? I've seen a few harsh edits from you and this one is no exception so I wonder if this is the intended look you are after. What I see is a baby with a very grungy face.

Boy, thats a good question. Please check my post in the next Thread called Niki Noodles.

yes it appears on my monitor as if you ran it through the grunge action LOL. I refuse to edit on an LCD screen even though I have one. I get the most natural printouts from edits on my old trusty monitor and have a few of these old screens aside for use in the future.

If I use the LCD to edit the printouts are never right

Times have really changed...There is an action for everything these days. :-)

I prefer a CRT over LCD for edits too. I'm learning to adjust to LCD, but very slowly.
