What differs between a portrait and snapshot?

Was going to let this go by, but just have to providemy own views:

To add a bit to Dustin's def of portrait: posed by the artist.

Snapshot: picture taken on the spur of the moment. Unplanned.

Candid: composed, but not posed. Available light or camera flash.
