I haven't taken too many pictures lately, I guess because of weather. I took this a few weeks ago with a Digital Rebel and stock lens in Triberg Germany. I know that waterfalls are overdone, but I am still trying to get it right.
Let me know what you think. Dave Porter |

Thanks, I'm glad you liked it.
I havent picked up an ND yet, still working on it. I need to just go ahead and order one, it would sure help out. Dave Porter |

I love this picture alot! I really like how the haze from the sunlight is shining through the top-left corner of the picture. This entire image reminds me of the ones that I normally see in the Nature/Waterfalls section in a poster store such as Photos Plus.
The only recommendation that I would suggest is to increase the contrast and to reduce the gamma just a tad-bit. This would remove the gray-ish cast that's covering the entire image as well as making the colors stand out a bit more without increasing the saturation (which would make it seem unnatural). This also allows for the haze from the sunlight to stand out a bit more, too! |

Hi there Dave! :-)
What a beautiful area to capture! A tip that I'd like to share with you is that if you shot this image in JPG format, try shooting it in RAW format instead. This will cut down some on blowing out the waterfall effects. If you can go back and try this shot again in RAW, you may see a nice difference! Wonderful image, thanks for sharing... StitchBabe |

This isn't a bad attempt. The water is a bit hot though. Of course, you didn't have much choice if you wanted other elements in the scene to be properly exposed.
A lens hood/shade greatly improves contrast on shots as this. The direction of the light and reflections rob you of a lot of contrast here. This white balance should lean more toward green in this scene because most of the reflecting elements and light filtering through the trees will have a slight green cast. I added a little yellow and red to the color correct version I'm providing because I prefer warmer tones. You can get a lot more impact from this image, but it will require some work with layers and selectively brightening and lightening the different elements in the scene. My quick crude edit is to demonstrate what a little dodging and burning can do. Good luck! Rodney |

Nice shot. I don't think waterfalls could ever be overdone.
