This was taken a few years ago with my old DSC-F717.
Unfortunately to size it for the web you lose a lot of detail especially on things like visibly seeing the powerlines(you can clearly make them out on the full res version)
I'm just curious what is thought of this picture that was something of a afterthought I just decided to take a quick(15 second) shot and see what'd come of it.
of all the photos I shot with that sony this is actually my second favorite.

Sky042,

This looks really neat - like it should be on a RUSH CD cover. :G

Well done!!

The first thing I thought about was Steven Spielberg's Close Encounters of theThird Kind where the stage is set for the little boy in the house in the country.

Cosmic-lookingand interesting. It has an unknown quality about it. I like this one.

And further, once my eyes adjusted to the darkness I scrolled up and there are more stars giving it even more of a vast cosmic unknown sense.

By the way Sky042, was the 15 seconds metered or ''quick'' as in lucky guess?

Back then shot with a pro-sumer point and shoot everything was just kinda done by eye(still mostly is today)
look at ambient light and say ehh...lemme try 15 seconds see what happens.

I'd shot other things on that road that night so I had a pretty good idea that 15-20 seconds would give a decent exposure. I had done some 30 second ones that night that proved not to be too bright like overexposed but too bright in the sense that they looked weird.

Wow just looked at this on my monitor at work which is terrible and on the dark side...I can barely see any detail at all.
