I like the subjects' natural pose; I for one don't feel that a subject has to always be looking straight into the lens for it to be considered a good portrait. The moment was well captured and his sense of humor really comes through. I liked that you left it up to the viewer's imagination about what, exactly, the man found so funny ... a book? A newspaper? Someone sitting across from him? Not spelling everything out helps to draw the viewer into the image, IMHO. The B&W conversion also works well for me.


My only reservation is that there are many hot spots in the background - could they be darkened or cloned out? As they are the lightest part of the image, I find my attention keeps being pulled to them and away from the subject, which is somewhat distracting. Thanks for sharing! Ria

thanks, good point about the hotspots i didn't think about that. ill get to work on that and post a second copy.

for some reason this shot has a very modern feel to it. I tink its the colour casting. Nice candid capture and good use of shallow dof
