The first one is far the best, not even close. It would be nice if there was no such thing as Photoshop or any of them, Ken

i like the comp in the edit. maybe shrapness somewhere between the orig and edit would suit better

In this shot the crop is by far the best as I don't think the extra background adds anything to the story but as Ken says the latter is a little over sharpened.

Looking forward to seeing future shots in the Pony and Trap series.
