a bit on the hazzy side for my tates. I think if the moon was sharper the haze could prob contribute to a darker oveall feel to the shot

Terry,

The fog or haze is a nice effect but it seems to have interfered with getting a good focus on the moon.

Try with a longer (8 sec.) shutter speed on a tripod. Use the timer function if you don't have a cable release. Back off a bit with the zoom on your lens. I take it is a tamron zoom and it is a good lens but is a bit soft on the long end.
