Hi to everyone,
I am starting a new topic.It is mostly related to festivals of India.So I contribute with Diya ( Earthen lamp) burnt during Deepawali(Festival of Light) . A very significent events amomg hindu.
Thus I request every one of you whoever has the picture related to Hindu festivals with little discription So that everyone in world know what it is ???.

Durga Puja ;- celebrated about 20 days before the Dipawali, She is the Goddess Who has killed the demons on earth. Rather Signify as Good winning over the bad. She is revered Goddess among hindus. She is more revered among bangalies

Toady i.e 4th of march07 is "Holi".These day Hindu celeberate by thowing colours on each other.Colour may be a plane powder,water based or oil based.Troublesome is oil based you can not remove it for a long period of time.Plane powder is known as "Gulal" that is put on elder head like a "Tikka"(just a tinge on forehead)as a mark of respect.
Some people tend to go overboard .So tuorist be warned do not venture out during this time ask for proper person

and this is "Pichkari".Something like a water gun they mix colour and load it in pipe and pump the water colour out aiming the people,Sometime they fill in ballon and throw at people.Looks like FUN, you have to be adventureous to enjoy HOLI,Otherwise stay at home and enjoy it on TV

Happy7011,
I am talking about "Holi" .Basically it is celeberated in all over India,But it is more with more zeal in northen part of india,like Delhi,Utter Pradesh , Bihar, West Bangal, Orissa, etc( you will hardly see in southern part of India like Chennai,Bangalore,Kerala,etc)
