i need to do something with the background to make the lizards stand out more, while maintaining the natural (unedited) look. I'm gonna try changing the color of the wall, but any other comments would be appreciated

Looking at the larger size image it does look like a natural surrounding. No doubt you can make it more impressive imo by darkening the background, (I tried lighter, too, didn't look good) and maybe selecting the color from darker areas on the lizards, and cropping some of the background from the top. I like the variegated background a lot and wouldn't lose that effect.
