I agree, however Idon't know if it wouldhave been better if you were further away or if you were closer.

Or maybe the wrong time of day. The sky is too light. If the sky was a deeper blue then you could pump up the greens in the trunk which might make the "background" tolerable

I feel the closer compostion may look better ( take the left branch which is full of white thing, may be the fungus).But Sun is also not favouring you , I think you take one more picture,level on one branch only,sun should be on horizon (most likely in evening Time)Then post it I also wnat to see the result If you don't mind

Those are good suggestions. I had considered angle and point of view when I shot it but not time of day. It was a damp day which made the moss stand out more and early afternoon. Today though the moss has dried up so it doesn't stand out as much

if you are able to get to that location easy, try various times of the day (when the sun is very low on the horizon) and times of the year. I had taken about 50 frames of one tree before I got one that I likes (K64). Be patient, be creative, and something will become of the moss.
