.........thanks for the reviews, I have printed this and another as 11x14 mates for a friend who has them displayed and I have this photo framed at 11x14 and hanging.

Like the shot. But isn't this some type of poppy, rather than a thistle? It looks similar to ones that grow wild around here. I'm no botanist, so I'm not sure.

Thanks for looking and your comment. Yes, this is a Prickly Poppy which is commonly referred to as 'Thistle Poppy'...around here it's simply called a thistle. The following link describes the plant.

Now THAT's what I think of when I read "thistle"! It's interesting how different parts of the US shorten things differently - I hadn't heard of this particular flower being called a thistle. By the way, it's about the only white flower I've had any success photographing, you've done quite nicely with a difficult subject.
