Hi, I took this handheld on a dull day over the summer. It is takenhandheld with a compact fujifilm e900. It is an araniella spider on a hydrangea. There is lots of blotchy colour in the background which I do not like. I just got photoshop elements and am wondering the best way to overcome this problem. Otherwise, I am happy with the image.

When I print it out I seem to get lots of dark purple pixels which are noticeable. Maybe I was printing at the wrong resolution. In your opinion, would it be an idea to make a background layer of the purple area and gaussian blur it and then combine it with the rest?

Thats a great improvement. You are a genius. As a matter of interest, what did you do to achieve it?

I just selected the purple using color select and then did lens blur on it using radius 18
